Questions Second
in Command and CEOs
ask us most often
Straight answers on membership, cost, format, and what to expect — pulled from the same questions we hear on every discovery call. Can’t find yours? Book a call and we’ll answer it directly.
Who is the COO Alliance® built for?
The COO Alliance® is built exclusively for full-time Chief Operating Officers and Second-in-Command leaders — not CEOs, founders, or general executives. To join, you need to be the true COO or second-in-command of your company, run a team that reports directly to you, and lead a company doing a minimum of $2M+ in annual revenue.
Does everyone have a call before being invited to join?
Yes. Every applicant has a video call with a member of our team to share their goals and confirm it’s the right fit before receiving an invitation to join.
What does membership cost? New
COO Alliance® Annual Online Membership is $5,900 USD per year. That includes all 12 Monthly Mastermind calls, full access to the Members Portal (Circle), and member pricing on our twice-yearly In-Person COO Connect events.
When does my membership year start?
Your membership year starts on the 1st of the month following your payment.
How many events are held per year for members?
The COO Alliance® runs 12 Monthly Mastermind calls and hosts 2 Live In-Person COO Connect events each year, in cities such as Vancouver, Scottsdale, and near Boston.
What’s the time commitment?
Each Monthly Mastermind call runs about 2 hours. You and your team can also watch recordings of past calls in the Member App at your own pace, so the model flexes around your schedule.
If I miss a call, can I catch up later?
Yes. Every call is recorded and added to an organized library you can access anytime through the Member App. You’ll still miss the live breakout groups and real-time discussion, which is where a lot of the value happens, so we recommend attending live whenever you can.
Is this a safe, confidential environment to talk about my company?
Yes. Every member agrees not to share anything discussed in the group outside of it, so you can speak openly about real challenges without worrying about it leaving the room.
What happens at an In-Person COO Connect event, and what does it cost? New
COO Connect is a 2.5-day, in-person gathering that brings COOs and Second-in-Command leaders together for expert-led sessions, member presentations, small-group breakouts, and working sessions with Cameron Herold, plus meals and evening receptions. Current COO Alliance® members attend at $5,950 USD; past members and non-member guests attend at $6,950 USD. Events are held twice a year in cities such as Vancouver, Scottsdale, and near Boston.
Is a COO Connect event tax-deductible? New
For most members, yes — COO Connect is a professional development and business-networking event, and many members deduct the cost as a business expense. Tax treatment varies by situation, so please confirm eligibility with your own tax advisor.
Is COO Alliance® a course or a training program?
Not in the classroom sense. There’s no fixed curriculum, lectures, or certificate. COOs develop by practicing with peers, exchanging real playbooks from what’s working right now at 600+ companies, and building a network they rely on year after year.
How is COO Alliance® different from a traditional COO training program?
Traditional programs are courses — a fixed curriculum, lectures, and a certificate at the end. COO Alliance® is a practice and peer network for working COOs. Ideas get shared, pressure-tested with peers, and applied the same week, and the relationships last long after any single session. It complements formal education rather than replacing it.
How is COO Alliance® different from CEO-focused groups like EO, YPO, or Vistage? New
Groups like EO, YPO, and Vistage are built for CEOs, founders, and business owners. The COO Alliance® is the only peer network built exclusively for Chief Operating Officers and Second-in-Command leaders, so every conversation, speaker, and playbook is aimed at the specific challenges of running a company’s operations rather than owning it. Many of our members’ CEOs are also in groups like EO or YPO, and use COO Alliance® as the equivalent peer network for their #2.
What topics are covered?
Finance, AI, sales, marketing, operations, leadership, people, culture, communication, and budgeting — guided by an annual Mastermind Topic Roadmap and adjusted as members raise new challenges throughout the year.
Is there a way to be sure this is worth the investment?
Yes — every annual membership and In-Person COO Connect event is backed by our 10x guarantee. Jump in with both feet: attend at least 10 of the 12 Monthly Mastermind calls, participate actively, and engage in Circle between events. If you don’t see at least 10x your investment back — $59,000+ in new revenue, cost savings, or profit — we’ll refund you, no questions asked. Most members report far more, in the 50–100x range, and only a handful of our 600+ members have ever asked for a refund.
How can I train my COO?
Put your COO in the room with 600+ full-time COOs who’ve already solved the problems your company is facing right now. COO Alliance® isn’t a course — it’s where COOs sharpen their skills through practice, real-world exchange, and a network they’ll rely on for years. In about 2 hours a month, through monthly masterminds, expert calls, and in-person events, your COO brings back ideas they can put to work the same week — backed by our 10x guarantee.
What does my COO actually get out of it?
A room of peers who’ve solved the same problems, practical ideas they can apply right away, and a network of 600+ COOs to call on. Members consistently report 10–100x returns in new revenue ideas, cost savings, and operational improvements.
What happens if my Second-in-Command quits or gets fired?
We pause your membership for 60 days so you can find their replacement, then your annual membership picks back up. While you’re searching, another senior exec at your company is welcome to join the monthly events, even during that pause.
Who is Cameron Herold? New
Cameron Herold is the founder of The COO Alliance®. As COO of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, he helped grow the company from $2 million to $800 million+ in revenue in six years, expanding the team from 14 to more than 3,100 employees. He’s the author of seven books, including The Second in Command, Vivid Vision®, and Double Double, has spoken on every continent, and hosts the Second-in-Command Podcast for 20,000+ monthly listeners.
