How To Plan Your Employee Recruitment Strategy

Apr 4, 2019 | 0 comments

The hiring process can be long and difficult. But, you can save a lot of time and energy with a thoughtful recruitment strategy.

So here are a few things you should consider before your next round of interviews.

Determine Your Hiring Goals/Needs

Be thoughtful about the needs of the position you are trying to fill.

  • What experience does the position need?
  • What personality type will best suit the tasks at hand?
  • Is this a long term or short term contract?

If your employee recruitment strategy clearly outlines your hiring needs, you will spend less time interviewing candidates that are not a good fit.

Develop A Clear Company Brand

Make sure you can communicate your company’s brand. Take time to develop a clear brand identity to attract employees who believe in what you’re doing.

Job hunters want to know their new job is going to give them a sense of purpose and identity. So use the hiring process as an opportunity to sell your company to potential new hires.

Craft & Review A Thoughtful Job Description

Write a thoughtful job description easy for candidates to understand. Everything from the title, to the list of tasks, should make it very clear what the position requires.

Here are some things to always include in your job description:

  • Clear job title
  • A list of duties
  • Skills/experience required
  • Salary
  • Non-essential experience/skills that would be an asset

A good job description is one of the best ways to make sure you find qualified candidates to interview.

Use Social Media (Especially LinkedIn)

Use social media sites like LinkedIn to post job openings and vet interviewees.

With 500 million+ users on LinkedIn alone, social media has become one of the most useful hiring tools.

Check out LinkedIn’s Job Posting Toolkit to help you get started.

Set A Hiring Budget (Recruiting, Onboarding, Training, etc.)

Setting a budget is one of the most overlooked parts of the hiring process, but it is one of the most important.

Decide how much your company is willing to pay for hiring, onboarding, and training time.

If you know the financial costs of a new employee, there will be fewer surprises along the way.

Plan Out The Process Step-By-Step

The hiring and training process can be expensive and time-consuming. Every stage of hiring a new employee will set up the success of the next.

So plan each recruitment strategystep-by-step and you will be more successful as you embark on the hiring journey.
